SEO in North Shields

North Shields is home. Our office is on Saville Street, so our SEO North Shields work is done by people who walk past your competitors every day and can check the map results from the town itself.

We target both, because customers search for both.

We know the street

Why North Shields is a different search

A town this size behaves very differently in Google to a city. Small details decide who gets the call. It shapes every SEO North Shields plan we write.

North Shields or Tynemouth?

People search for Tynemouth when they mean Front Street, the Priory or Longsands, even though much of it shares the NE30 postcode. Which name you lead with, page by page, makes a real difference.

Competitors a street away

In a town this compact, a few hundred metres can separate you from three competitors. Distance is close to equal, so reviews, photos and how complete your profile is decide the order.

Visitors with phones

Day trippers at the Fish Quay and passengers from the ferry terminal at Royal Quays search for food, parking and things to do. Accurate hours and a fast mobile page win those visits.

Business parks off the A19

Cobalt, Silverlink and the Tyne Tunnel estates are full of businesses buying from other businesses. Those searches are by service first and location second.

Local SEO that is easier because we are here

Being based in the town is not just a nice line. It changes what SEO North Shields work can do for you.

  • We see the same results you do. We can search from the town centre, the coast or the business parks and see exactly who Google shows, rather than guessing from a tool.
  • Photos taken on the ground. Real photos of your premises, team and work help a profile more than stock images ever will. We can come round, or tell you exactly what to shoot.
  • Local links worth having. We are involved in the North Tyneside Business Forum and know which local organisations, events and directories are worth being part of.
  • Meetings without the diary juggling. If something needs a face to face chat, we can usually be with you the same week.
  • We know the coast. Cullercoats, Whitley Bay, Wallsend and Preston are all searched separately. We know where each one starts and stops for your customers.
  • Work you can go and look at. See how we helped a North Shields business in the Traditional Masonry case study, or browse more of our work.

Common mistakes we see in North Shields

These come up again and again when we look at local businesses in the town. This is where most SEO North Shields work starts.

Calling yourself Newcastle

Many North Shields businesses describe themselves as Newcastle to look bigger. It confuses Google and costs you the local searches you are best placed to win. Google's own local ranking guidance puts distance and relevance first.

Forgetting the coast

Plenty of work comes from Tynemouth, Cullercoats and Whitley Bay, but few businesses mention those places on their site. A short, honest page for each area you cover fixes it.

A profile set up and forgotten

A Google profile with no posts, old photos and unanswered questions slowly drops behind competitors who keep theirs active.

Leaving summer to chance

The coast gets far busier in the warmer months. Businesses that update offers, hours and content in spring are the ones that catch the extra searches.

SEO North Shields questions

Are you actually based in North Shields?

Yes. We are at North Tyneside Business Centre on Saville Street, NE30 1NT, Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm. You are welcome to call in by arrangement.

Should my business say North Shields, Tynemouth or Newcastle?

Use your real town on your Google profile and listings. On your website, lead with North Shields and add pages for the nearby areas you genuinely serve, such as Tynemouth. Calling yourself Newcastle usually does more harm than good.

Can you help me rank in Whitley Bay, Cullercoats and Wallsend as well?

Yes. Each one is searched separately, so we add a page for each area you want work from and build reviews from customers there.

Is local SEO worth it for a small town business?

Often more so than for a city business, because there are fewer competitors to overtake. A well run profile and a few good pages can put you near the top of the map for your main searches.

How quickly will I see results?

Many North Shields clients see their map positions improve within two to three months, because the competition is smaller than in Newcastle. Wider coastal terms take a little longer.

Can you take photos for my Google profile?

We can come round and take some, or give you a short list of exactly what to photograph. Real photos of your premises and work make a noticeable difference.
